Re: printing issue in magenta plate

I've seen something that looks like this and traced the cause to the thermal/wicking processing of the plate. In this case, the edges of images on the plates had a duller appearance. The areas of duller appearance corresponded exactly to the printed defects. To me, the edges had less support and the...

Re: cutting blades off a roll

I agree with Gorilla. Buy them pre-cut. It is a far better way to go. The ends are perfectly square and flat, variation in blade length is avoided, time and material are saved, and other benefits. That said, since you have some on rolls, make sure to use good aviation snips, not tin snips, or a devi...

Re: Allstein Press

This past June 6, I "celebrated" 43 years as a flexographer. This is the first time I have heard of Allstien. That said, I don't know them all, so it's not an indictment against them. I had a look around their web site. One encouraging thing is that they are German machines. That usually m...

Re: Flexo spitting

Hello Yow, Most of the time that I, or my colleagues, have experienced spitting has been when the ink, especially UV, has built up over time on the "back" of the metering blade (the side away from the anilox surface). Until you find a more permanent solution, you might give the blade(s) a ...

Re: Banded Roll Tests?

HI Preston, Any reputable anilox roller manufacturer has done this many times if they're reputable. They should have files available to you and can advise you in the process. The following link discusses banded roller trials and illustrates test plates. The idea is to test small-to-large fonts, thin...

Re: anilox delam (inner core)

By a product with a good reputation. Pay for superior quality. Don't be cheap; you will pay dearly for it. Aniloxes are not what you want to save money on. If the aniloxes are cleaned in a sonic tank, make sure that the ends are protected from intrusion. There are attachments that do this. Ask you a...

Re: chill rollers

Chilling the web with chill rollers is usually done so that the wound roll is not so hot that the ink results in blocking and/or offsetting. If you don't see any problems without chilling, you're probably OK not chilling, if there's not another mechanical reason that your rollers are being chilled. ...

Re: ENCLOSED CHAMBER LEAKING - VISCOSITY?

Hi, The first question I posted on this forum, in 1998, was about leaking chamber seals. At the time, I was operating a 65" W&H. Ink viscosity likely has an influence. However, I don't adjust ink viscosity to avoid leaking. Aside from making sure that the chambers are properly aligned, pres...

Re: Apex anilox sleeve replacement cost vs regular

I'm not sure I understand the question, Numby.

Your machine is tooled with sleeves or standard ('solid') aniloxes. You can't change them without serious equipment conversion that's not likely to be worth it. You must get what you've got.

Please clarify if I'm not getting it.
