as long as the face stock and liner are aligned I would reenforce your splice with extra splicing tape.
if the liner and face stock are not aligned try using something to deaden the adhesive. I used silicone spray on the edges that overlapped to keep the adhesive from sticking to the turn bar.

have you tried to run the original materials on the newer presses? seams to me that just changing presses should not be doing this. I would get as many of the original components together and run the original job on the newer press first. you may be looking at a compatibly issue with the new materia...
