as long as the face stock and liner are aligned I would reenforce your splice with extra splicing tape.
if the liner and face stock are not aligned try using something to deaden the adhesive. I used silicone spray on the edges that overlapped to keep the adhesive from sticking to the turn bar.

Get with your die manufacture they should be able to help with a repeatable process.

Set them up with a better choice, hand proofer or even better yet one of the newer proofer tables or machines.
