Re: Ghosting

I would also try a softer plate type .
It could also be linked to the ink volume being applied to the previous colour ( anilox too heavy )
Go coarser screen but with same volume on the colour that is ghosting ?

Try using a channel cell anilox , I know that Pamarco specifically make aniloxes for tactile varnish applications ...

Re: Plates are randomly to short or too long...

We had an Advance , and suffered the same problem .
It was the machine ... ( something wrong with the "worm gear" that the laser moves on ... )
We introduced a ruler test every week to confirm measure...

Re: Odd issue with plate

This effect is basically "cupping" ., often experienced with a flat top plate . You may find that the shoulders of the plate are too "steep" . . One can ( during set-up) add a lot of extra impression , so that the tape conforms to the hard plate edge ... then after set-up , go ba...

Re: Air flow rate in drying system

The airflow does affect ghosting .. the actual blower intensity . Ghosting is essentially a mechanical pinholing effect ; The following can affect pinholing ; The surface tension between the anilox and plate type ...... The doctor blade is not replenishing in time .... The viscosity may be too low ....

Re: Ink splash on CI drum

Yes , it is normal ..
Remember that the end seals are "lubricated" by the ink , therefor splashes do occur .
( Operators should clean the drum , drum nip and PIV/Chill Rollers at the end of their shift . This affects register if not cleaned regularly ...)

Re: Dot Dipping/Printing Clean

Your aniloxes are not suited to 150 lpi . You will have to increase your minimum dot to say , 3 % on plate .
So , for your proofs apply a minimum dot of 6% , and when going to plates drop plate to 3% .
Long term , aniloxes should have higher screen ruling ... 1000 up to 1200 ...

Re: Air flow rate in drying system

Apart from confirming that all outlet and inlets of the blowers are clear , it should be noted that one needs to adjust the blowers according to ink system being used , as well as press speed . One thing the folks do forget though , is that the extraction is as important as the blowing . It is point...

Re: Scapa Plate Mounting Tape

The tesa "steelmaster" tapes are extremely adhesive , as they were actually developed for printers who don't regularly clean their cylinders/sleeves . . .
( More sticky than our local 3M tapes..)

Hi All , I've also learnt a few little things that make a difference ; .The massive difference Hard/Medium/Soft tape can make on a halftone result . .From "kiss" settings , always increase your impression slightly , and reduce your inker slightly . . . to keep print clean . .Wipe a VERY fi...

Re: What's your Flexo story?

I'm kind of new to Flexo Exchange . My history is that I was looking for a job after military service , was offered 3 jobs in the same week , and decided that the printing apprenticeship was the best option . Did quite well and eventually ran a few Flexible Packaging companies here in South Africa ....
