Re: Ingenius innovations

Cool topic Gorilla! Hm from special innovations I say the 1# award goes to when we had to do a re-print job on our wide-web CI press. On a rather special kind of film we had not used before. The film was thick, double layered black and white PE (I can't remember the proper term - folded film maybe?)...

Re: Air flow rate in drying system

Don't know what's the correct expression in English but - this is like fighting a brick wall over here. Frank, I simply cannot do this check up without any support from the 'big ones' so hopes up I'll have the chance on the Christmas eve cleaning party. I'll keep you posted. [insert exhausted emotic...

Re: Air flow rate in drying system

Seeing Frank's images I couldn't wait any longer so I went in there and snapped couple of photos. It was a 'whew' moment because to my surprise it actually doesn't look so bad, at least on the outside  The thing is, since I can't do this on my own, my boss told me earliest I can get the testi...

Re: Auto impression settings on CI press

From there while the job is running: Listen for more thumping/vibration coming from a particular station compared to the others. You can also put your hand on the decks of each station and feel the difference.Just place your hand in the same vicinty on each deck. Lastly (I'm smiling as I'm writing ...

Re: Everyday ink storage

Thank you all for your replies!

I just wanted to know how others practice to make sure what we do is ok.

And thank you Andy for making me laugh - I banned the freaking wooden sticks from my "ink space"

Re: Air flow rate in drying system

Agree with Gorilla for the video! :) Thank you Frank, this explanation helps me to understand the background a lot more. I did a reset to factory settings and I'm waiting to get that smoker thing so I can get to testing this. I wanted to try with the Gorilla advice but I'm too short to reach it that...

Re: Metallic inks tarnishing

I agree with Gory - if every other parameter (anilox, substrate, etc) was the same and you got two different results with same fresh ink - it could be manufacturers error. I never noticed such drastic shade change but I do know that if you have left over gold/silver ink on stock you should mix it ve...

Everyday ink storage

Hi guys, how do you storage the ink you use everyday (cmyk, white)? Do you leave them in tanks on the press or do you pour them out and put it in buckets? We use solvent based inks and my crew currently either leaves them on press or in buckets but not secured (only lid, no safety hoop or how do you...

Re: Auto impression settings on CI press

Hi Barb It's good that you have a good result. But to tell you the truth I would have expected a manual reset to have been done before you posted the problem.Because it is quite a basic fix.I was assuming that when you posted the problem here that the pics etc..were the best result you could get.I d...

Re: Auto impression settings on CI press

Ha, you guys are full of tricks! Thanks, I'll forward the shop list to my boss  Aside from TIR issue, I can't find where I read it but someone also mentioned auto settings may end up crappy if the operator doesn't have a feeling for it, this stuck very well in my thoughts and today I've confi...

Re: Air flow rate in drying system

Thank you all for the replies. The reason I mentioned ghosting is because one of the guys from ink supplier told me to change the dryer settings in order to help with the issue so I just wanted to see if this is a 'standard' procedure. I see it is not  But still, I think the dryers weren't ch...

Re: Auto impression settings on CI press

Correct. I already found out how tape hardness can affect registration problems due to thickness deviation. Not all the time but there were cases.

Yes, this TIR testing is now priority.

Re: Auto impression settings on CI press

Thank you Frank!

That would definitely confirm that I need to proceed with this testing.

What do you mean by same tapes - same type of hardness or?

Re: Printing sleeves Sticking On Mandrels

Agree with Gorilla - If they are brand new you should definitely send them back for repair/replacement. Had the same situation, ordered 12 sleeves and immediately tested them both on mounting machine and press - I think 5 of them were faulty. One got so stuck on mandrel that my coworker almost flew ...

Re: Auto impression settings on CI press

Hi guys, I'm currently waiting on more information from our tech support on testing for TIR issues. Aside from impression problems, would TIR issue also cause problems with register settings? For example, let's say you have a machine that can print 1000mm wide image but due to some other nonsense in...
