repeat length and moisture in prepress

Postby zunaid » Sun Jul 17, 2011 3:10 pm

hello frnds!

can anyone of you help me with my problem.
we are facing repeat length problems in our products due to certain unknown reasons!
what are possible factors for increased repeat length image?

is moisture of pre press a factor in very small elongation of flexogrpahic plate?if yes than how to overcome it?

is there any possiblity that plate when attached to sleeve, slips a few milmeter when sleeve is running at higher speeds during printing process?

Plates, if they are polymer plates will not stretch or shrink, they are an uncompressible material. As for your repeat issue, many factors are missing in your description. Are you on a gear press or gearless? What substrate are you running? Did you double-check plate distortion before going on press? Do you mosstype-proof your plates before going on press? Did you introduce any new adjustment on that specific job? This question include dryers temperatures, push-pull adjustments etc. Are you printing wider substrate than usual? This may call for a tork adjustment.

If you change supplier of plates or change type of plates - Check K factor
Formula for K factor is Thickness of plate - thickness of polyester x ( 2 x 3,14)... or provide it directly from producer of plates-
