Printing Haptic coatings with Flexo

Postby Arjan Boeren » Tue Apr 30, 2019 2:39 am

Here we want to print a water based haptic laquer with Flexo on BOPP film.
This water based laquer has large particles which gives the feel, almost like sandpaper.
It it mentioned to use a Cylinder of 100lines/inch to get the particles printed.

Now with a 100lines/inch cylinder it brings a lot of laquer to the plate and it is too much, cylinder is a quadrangular cells with BCM of 20.
Normally a higher lines cylinder would be better, it prints well with 225lines/inch cylinder, but this cylinder does not prints these big particles.

What would be the best approach?
- Are there special cylinders for this?
- Are there specific plates which handle high laquer volumes better?
- Is there another way to get these big particles printed with flexo?
Hope you can give me advice,

Hello Arjan,

There is a thread on printing raised images that is similar to your topic. There may be some ideas there for you. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2232
