Leaning Fanfold Stacks

Postby dkelley » Thu May 02, 2019 9:28 am

We are running fanfolded stacks 4 X 2 RCR labels folded every 3 labels for a fold repeat of 6.375. Then stacks are leaning in the machine direction.
I have tried foaming the die and adjusting the press tensions to no avail. Does anyone have any further suggestions?
Thanks and much appreciated.

What type of fan fold stacking machine are you using?

I would start by measuring for any throw in the press. 10 or 12 foot section of web. Make sure the repeats adds up. If not it slipping somewhere.

Also, when you say "the machine direction", do you mean the front of the stack is higher than the rear? Treating the press like a ship, do you mean starboard or port or aft or bow leaning?

So if the boat is tied to a dock by the port side and between the bow and the stern is 6.125'' and the web is running in that direction the stack is leaning in the bow direction.

OK. I keep "leaning" towards the quality of the perforations, but I'm not sure about that because I doubt that the same blade corresponds to exactly the same fold, every time.
