HIGH OPACITY WHITES

Post by DMan »

Hello All

Can anyone recommend me the anilox specification to print HIGH OPACITY WHITES..
I see issues with smooth transfer of inks on many articles...
What is the screen volume range I should look at ?
Will 30 degrees Channel engraving be better among all types available today ?

Await to hear you all

We have used 30, 60 and 75 degree. Also have tried Harper's newer XCAT design. The best results we're coming up with for a nice laydown and decent opacity is Apex GTT C8 (5.16). I only use the GTT's for white....no other colors. We are also surface screening our white plates. FYI - we only run water based ink. Hope this helps.

If you are running water based inks on clear film, it is going to be difficult to achieve a real opaque white regardless of anilox or ink manufacturer. Your best bet would be to invest in a UV lamp for the first print station to lay down a UV opaque while.

One of the open channel style anilox rolls is ideal, there is many names for them from the suppliers. The trick though for smooth coverage is a super hard plate tape and a plate with micro-screening. Without a hard tape and a solid plate you will always see pinhole and not a smooth lay down with white.

I fully agree. if you are using UV inks the Sunchem Neutron white is the most opaque of all suppliers I have tested.. used in combination with the above you'll get your best result.
